The jail garden was started in 2017 and has grown from 3 acres to over 10 acres in two short years. The garden has allowed the jail to reduce food costs while also providing fresh fruits and vegetables to offenders. The program has been a great way to teach offenders how to grow a garden, as well as canning and freezing produce. The cost of the Garden Project is covered by commissary profits, therefore there is no cost to the taxpayers.
